Suspect swings bat in extreme case of road rage

NANAIMO — A shocking case of road rage on the highway in Lantzville involving an irate driver armed with a bat is being investigated by RCMP.

It happened Monday, May 6 at 4:30 p.m. when a southbound motorist reported being sideswiped by the driver of a truck towing a trailer on Hwy. 19 near Bayview Park Dr.

Police said the truck driver got out and approached the other driver while wearing a balaclava mask and carrying a baseball bat.

The suspect then smashed the bat through the male victim’s driver side window causing minor injuries, according to police.

Police don’t have a suspect at this time.

The suspect vehicle is described as a grey 2002-2005 model Dodge 2500 or 3500 full-sized truck with a crew cab, short box and 10 foot flat deck trailer.
