Popular RDN trails remain closed months after December wind storms
NANAIMO — Months after the devastating December wind storms, popular trails throughout the mid-island area are still closed.
The Meadowood Way Trailhead into the Little Qualicum River Regional Park and the Cameron Lake Trailhead of the Arrowsmith CPR Regional Trail are inaccessible to hikers and nature-enthusiasts.
Wendy Marshall, manager of Parks Services with the Regional District of Nanaimo, said the damage to the trails was severe and partners involved in cleaning the areas were occupied.
“Everyone was impacted with wood down, so they were dealing with other priority areas before they got around to what they wanted to do with these trails,” she told NaniamoNewsNOW.
