Christmas comes early for Nanaimo mom after repeated car break-ins
NANAIMO — It was an extraordinary ending to a standard break-in for a Nanaimo woman after her car was robbed outside her downtown home.
Nanaimo RCMP said the single mom’s car window was shattered on Nov. 17 for a second time in short order and she had no idea how to afford getting her window fixed.
Cst. Gary O’Brien said police were stunned when they heard the 28-year-old woman didn’t want to proceed with charges because the thief was probably also struggling.
“It stopped (police) in their tracks, it literally stopped them, and they said ‘We have to give something back to this girl, she’s got her act together and this can be a game-changer for her.’”
