How early should you leave to make your ferry home?

Aug 6, 2017 | 3:25 PM

NANAIMO — No long weekend is complete without spending time waiting in line to get onto a ferry.

Deb Marshall, executive director of public affairs with BC Ferries, said though the entire long weekend will be jam-packed with cars, travellers should be especially concerned with making it to ferry terminals on time on Monday, Aug. 7.

“I would give yourself at least an hour to two hours in advance if you’re travelling without a reservation at a peak time,” Marshall said. Traffic should increase dramatically starting in the late morning on Monday and continue on for the rest of the day.

Marshall said many are now shifting their vacation schedules and heading home on Tuesday, which is expected to be quite a busy day also.
