Unemployment rate dips in Nanaimo

NANAIMO — New unemployment numbers show the Nanaimo area’s jobless rate dropped to 4.7 per cent in May.
That’s down from 6.2 per cent in April, according to Statistics Canada.
Nanaimo’s labour force participation rate last month climbed slightly to 62 per cent in May from 61.3 per cent in April.
The jobless rate in the Nanaimo area in May of last year was 5.5 per cent.
