UPDATE: Missing 75-year-old woman found after brief search

NANAIMO — Police confirmed missing elderly woman Julie Curling was found Wednesday morning after a roughly four hour search.

They said she was found safe and sound.

EARLIER: Police and search and rescue teams are searching for a missing elderly woman last seen Wednesday morning.

RCMP Cst. Gary O’Brien said 75-year-old Julie Curling was reported missing by her husband after leaving their central Nanaimo apartment on Cypress St. at 6:30 a.m.

O’Brien said search and rescue teams are combing the wooded area behind her apartment building.

“She can’t be far. She’s probably sitting down somewhere or may be injured.”

Though Curling has medical issues affecting her memory, O’Brien said she’ll respond to her first name.

She’s white, standing 5′, roughly 140 pounds with shoulder length grey hair. The photo provided is recent.
