Where to pay tribute this Remembrance Day

Nov 10, 2017 | 1:59 PM

NANAIMO — Every year mid-islanders converge on their local cenotaphs and legions to recognize the men and women who served and continue to serve to protect the freedoms we enjoy every day.

Several thousand people will be in downtown Nanaimo at the Dallas Square Cenotaph located at 85 Church St.

The formal ceremony at Dallas Square begins with a parade march shortly before 11 a.m. to the cenotaph. A military aircraft from CFB Comox will fly over, dignitaries will lay wreaths and the cannon will fire.

Road closures impacting portions of Commercial, Skinner, Chapel, Bastion, Church and Front Streets will be in effect.
