Oceanside Brewery taps into local market

PARKSVILLE — A Parksville micro-brewery already has big expansion plans after being open for three weeks.

The Mount Arrowsmith Brewing Company has applied to expand their tasting room into a full lounge at their existing building on Stanford Ave.

Manager Matt Hill said they’re looking to cater to a different clientele.

“It’s not a sports pub. We wouldn’t be doing these things that a lot of other establishments do that creates a pub experience,” he said. “It’s more of a social experience…it’s a place for you to go and meet people and connect and talk about great beer.”

He said adding a lounge is the logical next step for the micro-brewery and they’ve already got the backing of their customers.

“This is exactly what Parksville-Qualicum needs,” he said.

Anyone who wants to have their say in the application process can email the planning department at the City of Parksville before Friday, April 28.

Hill said it might be two months or more before they find out if their application is approved.
