SEATTLE — Nanaimo’s Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Academy had another strong showing at an event in the US.

On Saturday at the North American Grappling Association Seattle Championship, Matt Kwan took the gold in the expert nogi division, Umesh Thillaivasan won gold in the purple belt division and Adam McGuire won three gold medals – two in white belt division and the other in the beginner nogi category.

Just a few weeks ago other athletes from Island Top Team performed well at the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation Championship in Las Vegas.

Dwayne Johnston won a silver medal and Jimmy Lapointe made it to a quarter final match.

Island Top Team is known as the premiere Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy on Vancouver Island.
