Mail-in voting applications available for upcoming local election

NANAIMO — Mid Island local governments have mail-in voting packages available for those hoping to take advantage of the option ahead of next month’s general local election.

A Friday, Sept. 4 City of Nanaimo news release stated mail-in ballots can be picked up in-person at city hall from the legislative services department at 455 Wallace St., by downloading an online form, or via email: elections@nanaimo.ca.

“A mail ballot must be received by the Chief Election Officer before the close of voting (8 p.m.) on General Voting Day (Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026) in order to be counted for the election. It is the responsibility of the elector to post the mail ballot in sufficient time for delivery to the Legislative Services Department at City Hall by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 16, 2026,” stated the release.

Mail ballot application forms are available at local government offices, and in some cases online; which can be obtained at the following links for the City of Parksville, Town of Qualicum Beach and Regional District of Nanaimo.
