Trio sentenced after violent assaults
After three years of trials, a publication ban has finally been lifted on a high profile Port Alberni case that sent David Bird and Shae Doiron to prison.
Bird, Doiron and Megan Ingram initially faced dozens of charges including B&E, robbery, forcible confinement, assault with a weapon and vehicle theft, after breaking into a room at the Harbourview Apartments, and assaulting three occupants, stealing their money and a car in December 2022.
Bird was arrested in April 2023 after barricading himself in a Redford Street hotel room, which required the RCMP Critical Incident Command Team.
In November 2023 he was sentenced to 18 months jail and 3 years probation.
