Nomination packages now available across mid-Island for October election

NANAIMO — A key step ahead of the 2026 Municipal Elections is now underway across the mid-Island.

Candidate nomination packages are available across all mid-Island municipalities, with Nanaimo and Lantzville making the documents available, on Tuesday, Aug. 4.

City of Parksville, Town of Qualicum Beach, and the Regional District of Nanaimo had all previously uploaded their nomination forms.

The forms themselves, or information on how to collect a nomination package, is available on the front page of each municipality’s website.

Formal candidate nominations begin Sept. 1 and continue through Sept. 11 in every municipality.

No forms will be accepted before the nomination period begins on Sept. 1, in accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act.

Nominations remain open until Sept. 11, before the official campaign begins on Sept. 19.

General election day is Oct. 17.

A series of candidate information sessions are also being planned across the region:

City of Nanaimo: Aug. 12 at 6 p.m.
City of Parksville: Sept. 2 at 1:30 p.m.
Town of Qualicum Beach: Aug. 19 at 3:30 p.m.
Regional District of Nanaimo: Aug. 12 at 6 p.m.
