Family Day festivities in Qualicum Beach takes over town core

May 31, 2026 | 5:13 AM

QUALICUM BEACH — At risk of not proceeding this year due to a prior lack of volunteer support, a full offering of family-friendly events are going ahead in Qualicum Beach.

Offered annually since 1976, Family Day happens throughout Sunday, May 31 in Qualicum Beach, with most activities scheduled for the Community Playing Field beside the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre.

The day-long event starts with a pancake breakfast and live entertainment at the Civic Centre between 8:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., while the entire afternoon features a range of games and activities on the playing fields.

A parade (starting at noon on Primrose St.), food trucks and community exhibits are included in the longstanding event dating back over 50 years.

Sponsored by the Town of Qualicum Beach and organized by volunteers, last fall mayor Teunis Westbroek stated the Family Day organizing committee was in need of several new members in order to pull off the 2026 event, which takes place on the last day of May.

Lead committee organizer Rebecca Fenton and several other community members came together to preserve Family Day.

Family Day is capped off with complementary swimming at Ravensong Aquatic Centre between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.
