Open house sessions brought many new faces to Nanaimo Lawn Bowling Club
NANAIMO — The Nanaimo Lawn Bowling Club (NLBC) is in the early portion of its season.
Recently, the club held three open house sessions on the green at Bowen Park and NLBC president Kathleen Hewitt was pleased with the results.
“They were unbelievably successful. Even better than our 100-year anniversary. We had 110 people try lawn bowling over those three sessions. We had a number of people who signed up for coaching lessons and several who wanted membership forms. We encourage people to take a couple of coaching lessons before they become members.”
Most of the players who came to the open houses have lived in the area for a while but never tried lawn bowling, but there were a few newcomers to the mid-Island who showed up to give it a try.
