New Alberni Youth Centre proposed
A new youth centre is being proposed for the former Boy’s Project building on Anderson Avenue.
Foundry Alberni will be a 6800 square foot drop-in centre for teens and youth to hang out, and access health services if needed.
The project is being led by Debra Hamilton of the Alberni Drug and Alcohol Prevention Services who designed the centre with the guidance of local youth.
“Integrating services and co-locating services is absolutely necessary to find friendship, peer support, social / recreational activities, and most importantly healthcare, mental healthcare and substance use care,” she said.
