NANAIMO — The Clippers and West Kelowna Warriors had a battle of special teams won 4-1 by the Warriors.

West Kelowna scored a power play goal and a shorthanded tally in the first period to jump out to a 2-0 advantage.

Warriors leading scorer Ruslan Jamaldinov had the power play marker and Dylan Krayer counted the shorthanded goal.

Defenceman Ian Crowley extended the lead to 3-0 with a shot from the high slot late in the middle frame.

Miller Kay scored the only Clippers goal on a shorthanded two on one rush in the third period.

Blake Burke capped the scoring mid way through the third period for West Kelowna.

The shots finished even at 34-34 and Nanaimo ended up 0/5 on the man advantage and 1/2 killing penalties.

The Clippers had a five on three power play for a full two minutes but failed to score in the final period.

Matthew Hutchison took the loss in goal with the BCHL’s top ranked goalie Angelo Zol picking up the win and first star honours.

Nanaimo has three games left in the regular against Chilliwack and a home and home with the Victoria Grizzlies.
