Oyster Processor comes to Dock+

The Port Authority’s Dock+ facility continues to attract innovative seafood projects to Port Alberni.

The latest is an oyster harvesting and processing company with an industry leading high pressure processing machine that shucks and cleans the oysters for packaging and shipping.

JP Haskey, founder of Nova Harvest says the Dock Plus seafood hub was a perfect place to bring his business vision to life

“Dock Plus has created a really excellent space for start-up businesses,” he said. “Port Alberni has a lot of great aspects for starting businesses and the municipality has also been incredibly supportive of bringing new businesses into Port Alberni and we see a really bright future for creating small businesses in Port Alberni to help diversify the economy.”

Haskey partnered with the Huu-ay-aht Group of Companies to expand shellfish farming in Barkley Sound, and says the machinery should be operating within the next few weeks and product available in 3 months.
