Long-time Qualicum Beach volunteer awarded for lifetime of giving back

Dec 7, 2025 | 8:58 AM

QUALICUM BEACH — A longtime volunteer has been honoured for a lifetime of work within the community.

Pat Jacobson was presented with the 2025 Above & Beyond Award recently from the Town of Qualicum Beach, recognizing the numerous places she has dedicated her time over the years.

A statement from the Town said Jacobson “epitomizes the spirit of the Above & Beyond Award, contributing her time, expertise, and leadership across numerous local organizations.”

She served as director of both the Qualicum Beach Streamkeepers and the Qualicum Beach Friends of the Forests, as well as contributing to the Heritage Forest Commission, the Brown Property Preservation Society, Pollinator Pathway projects and more.

Jacobson was presented with the award by acting mayor, Coun. Scott Harrison, who said the example Jacobson sets is what stands out the most.

“She leads not with fanfare, but with quiet determination. She doesn’t look for recognition but simply sees what needs to be done and steps forward. Pat reminds us of what citizen leadership truly looks like: thoughtful, consistent, community-minded, and deeply rooted in a love for Qualicum Beach.”

Jacobson was given the award during the Town’s Volunteer Appreciation Reception, an annual event celebrating community volunteers.

The Above & Beyond Award plaque, along with all of the 2025 Volunteer Appreciation Recipient Awards, will be on display at the Town Hall foyer.

More information on the award can be found here.

The Town’s annual Volunteer Appreciation Reception welcomes representatives from over 120 local groups, as a way to honour all of their contributions. (Town of Qualicum Beach)
