Clippers Bruender records back to back OT winners

PORT ALBERNI — The Clippers Tanner Bruender is on.a hot streak with three straight two point games and two consecutive overtime winners.

In his latest game Bruender scored twice for Nanaimo in a 4-3 victory over the Bulldogs, including an overtime power play marker.

After a scoreless first period the Clippers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the middle frame on tallies by captain Nathan Larioza and the team high 12th goal of the season for Elliot Perreault.

The BCHL’s leading scorer Jacob Terpstra got that goal back late in the second period by scoring the Teddy Bear Toss goal in Port Alberni.

After a delay from the Teddy Bear Toss Bruender gave the Clippers a 3-1 advantage heading into the second intermission.

The home team pushed hard in the third getting an early marker from Wyatt Blace and a beautiful second goal by Terpstra mid way through the period.

Nanaimo earned an overtime power play which led to Bruender scoring the game winner from the side of the net.

The Clippers were out shot 36-30 and on special teams they were 1/2 on the power play and 2/2 killing penalties.

Nanaimo takes a three game winning streak into their final game in November, a home contest on the 29th against the Langley Rivermen.

So far the Clippers have won both head to head games with the Rivermen in the season series.
