Annie Katherine Scott, March 2, 1933 – September 4, 2025
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of long time Nanaimo resident Annie Katherine Scott on September 4, 2025, at the age of 92. For those of you who knew Annie, it will be no surprise to you that she was cracking jokes and eating chocolate right up to her final days. Annie was pre-deceased by her husband William “Bill” in 1985. She is survived by sons Daniel, James, Michael (Sharon), daughter Nancy (Michael), grandchildren Jennifer (Matt), Megan (Jarrod), Derek (Whitney), great grandchildren Miles, Oscar, Millie-Rae and Heath, as well as other extended family and friends. Annie was born in San Francisco in 1933. She moved to Nanaimo when her mother decided to return to her home town of Nanaimo to marry the love of her life, John Irvine, in 1950. Throughout her life Annie worked tirelessly for services and rights of the handicapped. She also worked social programs to assist others, such as mature adults returning to the workforce. In later years she found fulfillment as an employee and volunteer for Shaw Cable, a job she looked upon as fun and not work. The family would like to extend it’s heartfelt gratitude to the VIHA nurses and care staff who provided such loving care to Annie in her final years, allowing her to pass away peacefully at home, which is what she wanted. She loved you all! In true Scott family tradition, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Society of Canada.
