Returning north Nanaimo market building community connections
NANAIMO — Back for another year, local shoppers have another option for local, fresh food and other items.
The Nanaimo Food Hub is in its second year of the Friday Farm Market, held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. every Friday through the summer at Discovery Montessori Farm School on Jingle Pot Road.
Market coordinator Tina Fabbro told NanaimoNewsNOW they started last year as a pilot project, aiming to build better food connections in the region.
“The goal of the Nanaimo food hub is to build additional distribution channels for local growers, and specifically small and medium scale, scale growers. So, really the core of the idea…is to strengthen the food systems in the Nanaimo area.”
