Tug company makes Alberni home port

The new owners of the APD property say the site will slowly be transformed into a maintainance facility for their fleet of tugs and barges.
Amix Marine Group owner Tony Mara said they’ve been leasing property near Campbell River for the past few years, and are excited to have a permanent home built for their specific needs in Port Alberni.
“There is going to be some infrastructure work required right off the bat,” he said. “The facility isn’t built to suit us today so job one is to build the site so that it can support mechanics for the support of our our fleet.”
Mara said Amix owns 4 large tugs and 6 barges that work the west coast from California to Alaska.
