The Alberni Valley Chamber of Commerce hosted their annual awards gala on Friday, honouring local business leaders for their community contributions.

The PEAK’s Jessica McGregor was given the Community Builder Award, Susan Dube was named Volunteer of the year, and Megan Warrender was given the Chamber Award

Richard Spencer from the Western Vancouver Island Industrial Heritage Society and Alberni Pacific Railroad was named Citizen of the year by the Arrowsmith Rotary Club.

Chamber President Chris Washington said entreprenuers are attracted to the Alberni Valley and the local business community is growing quickly with an unprecedented diversity of specialty retail shops, restaurants and other services.
