Huneault and Verbrugge run in by-election

Nominations close this afternoon to run in the City Council by-election.

Chief Electoral Officer Mark Brown will host a ‘Draw by Lot’ at 4:15 this afternoon at City Hall, to determine the order that candidates names will appear on the ballot.

Currently only two people have declared their intention to run in the by-election: Richard Huneault and Tom Verbrugge.

Both men ran and lost in the last municipal election in 2022 with Hunealth placing 20th out of 21 councillor candidates and Verbrugge narrowly losing the mayor’s chair to Sharie Minions.

The by-election will happen on Saturday December 14th at Echo Centre, with advance polls on Wednesday December 4th and 11th.
