Express comeback sinks Clippers in 4-3 OT loss

COQUITLAM — For the third time in four games the Clippers built up a big lead only to have it taken away.

Nanaimo was up 2-0 on the Express after the first period on goals by Elliot Perrault and Luke Lavery on a power play.

Another man advantage goal by Andrew Brown extended the lead to 3-0 five minutes into the middle frame.

Nate Crema got the Express back into the game with a tip in goal late in the second and then he scored again by bouncing home a loose puck early in the third period.

Jackson Krill snuck a shot by Chazz Nixon with six minutes to play, setting the stage for overtime.

Nanaimo had an overtime power play but failed to score, and also surrendered a penalty shot to Trip Pendy. .

Krill later had a point blank chance but was robbed by Nixon.

Pendy had another clear cut chance with three seconds left in the overtime and this time made good by scoring the game winner.

Nixon was a stalwart stopping 43 of 47 shots while his counterpart Eric Young made 24 saves for Coquitlam.

The Clippers finished 2/4 on the power play and 2/2 killing penalties.

Nanaimo has three points in their last two games, but have also lost two three goal leads and a four goal over the last four outings.

Forward Jimmy Lyver made his debut in Coquitlam after being acquired from the NAHL earlier in the week.

He was held pointless playing on a line with Chase Hull and Samuel Boisvert.

The Clippers next take on division leading Chilliwack on the road Nov. 2 at 6 p.m.
