Clippers fail to find their game in 4-1 loss to Chilliwack

Sep 27, 2024 | 10:42 PM

NANAIMO — The Clippers couldn’t overcome a slow start in a 4-1 setback to the Chilliwack Chiefs.

Nanaimo only mustered three shots in the first period and were down 1-0 on a goal by Nathan Morin.

Brady Milburn made it 2-0 in the second period and then a one timer by Dakota MacIntosh upped the Chiefs advantage to 3-0.

The MacIntosh goal was only counted after a review by the officials.

Patrick Fortune had the Clippers only tally on a steal but MacIntosh’s second of the night before the second intermission wrapped up the scoring.

The final shots finished 32-23 for Chilliwack with Nanaimo going 0/4 on the man advantage and 1/2 killing penalties.

Clippers forward Makaio Van Tassel failed to finish the game after being knocked out of action in the first period, while veteran Luke Lavery wasn’t able to dress for the home opener because of a lower body injury at practice.

With the result the Clippers drop to 0-1-1 on the season with a home game against the Powell River Kings on Sept. 28.
