LAKE COWICHAN — Officers from the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit are investigating the death of a man in Lake Cowichan.

Police were called to a home in the 7900 block of Cowichan Lake Rd., just east of the community, shortly before midnight on Sept. 3, and found the body of Tavis Cragg who’d been reported missing from Nanaimo earlier in the day.

A release from RCMP notes a suspect has already been identified, but it’s not believed a formal arrest has been made.

“The investigation remains in its early stages but investigators believe this is an isolated incident and there is no ongoing risk to community safety,” RCMP say.
