NANAIMO — The Clippers came out guns blazing in the first period in Game 4 versus the Grizzlies but couldn’t sustain their strong play for 60 minutes.

The Grizzlies won 3-2 to take a 3-1 lead in the best of seven first round BCHL playoff series.

Joel Plante and then Luke Buss on a power play gave Nanaimo a 2-0 advantage but that was all the offense they would get.

Victoria scored once in every period with Luc Pelletier notching a power play goal in the first, Chase Pirtle tallying in the middle frame and Pirtle collecting the game winner on a third period man advantage.

Victoria outshot Nanaimo 34-25 with Oliver Auyeung-Ashton getting the win over the Clippers Chazz Nixon.

The Grizzlies went 2/3 on the power play in the game while Nanaimo was 1/3.

Game 4 was the first time in the series a lead has switched hands.

Nanaimo played without their leading scoring defenceman Isa Pareka and also on the injured list for Game 4 was forward Chase Hull.

The Clippers season will be on the line when they visit the Q Centre on April 12 for Game 5.

If Nanaimo is successful in Game 5 they would be back at Frank Crane Arena for Game 6 on April 13 and a Game 7 would happen April 15 in Victoria.
