Doug Charles Phillip Farrugan – July 8th, 1942 – February 23rd, 2024
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Douglas C. P. Farrugan on February 23, 2024. He leaves behind a close, loving family to whom he imparted his values; belief in oneself, dedication to family, hard work, fun and generosity. Doug was a Firefighter in Toronto for 25 years, retiring as Captain to pursue his dream of living on the west coast. He built his first family home in his 20s with no formal training and built a second home when he moved to Nanaimo. Doug was known for his sense of humor and pranks and often spread the fun by organizing community social events. He was a member of the Georgetown Racquet Club, Nanaimo Squash Club & Nanaimo Curling Club. In Hemet, CA where Doug & Sandra enjoyed the last 15 winters, Doug was a member of Grandfathers for Golf & organized Texas Hold ‘Em & Beanbag Baseball tournaments. He will be deeply missed by his partner of 30 years, Sandra Peterson, his children, Duane, Cj & Jenny (Brian), grandchildren, Brianna, Olivia, Leanne, Ty, Autumn & Jet, and even a little bit by by his favourite Ex, Julie. Doug’s life – well lived – continues to live on in each of us. A celebration of Life will be held on June 8th, 2024, 2:00 pm, at the Nanaimo Curling Club
