COLWOOD — The Clippers allowed only one goal in two games and finished their weekend with an impressive 4-0 win over the Victoria Grizzlies.

Coming off a 1-0 home ice loss to Surrey, Nanaimo traveled to the Q Centre and put a blanket on the Grizzlies.

Chazz Nixon was the first star with a 31 save shutout.

It was his first in the BCHL and capped off a two game stretch where he stopped 64 of 65 shots.

Nanaimo got all the offense they would need less than two minutes into the game thanks to a rebound goal by Noah Alvarez

Luke Buss scored in a four on four situation in the second period and also added an empty netter late in the third.

Joel Plante also hit the scoresheet with just over a minute left on a cross ice setup from Cole Lonsdale.

Nanaimo was outshot 31-30 with both the Clippers and Grizzlies going 0/5 on the power play.

The Clippers upped their record to 4-1 in the season series with Victoria and the next head to head matchup is a week away on Feb. 17 at the Q Centre.

Nanaimo also extended their lead for fourth place in the Coastal Division to three points over their south island rivals.

The Clippers next outing is Friday Feb. 16 versus the Langley Rivermen at Frank Crane Arena.
