Driver launches over embankment, takes out north Nanaimo traffic light
NANAIMO — A driver luckily sustained only minor injuries after losing control of his car and toppling a traffic light.
It happened on Thursday, Jan 18 at about 6:50 a.m. on Rutherford Rd. at Hammond Bay Rd.
Nanaimo Fire Rescue Capt. Orphee Bernard said the 27-year-old driver luckily was not seriously hurt.
“Someone may have hit an icy patch coming down Rutherford Rd. and went through the intersection, over the bank and into some wires for a hydro pole and took out a traffic light,” Bernard told NanaimoNewsNOW.
