NANAIMO — A man accused of attempting to assault people with a baseball bat and threatening to kill them is wanted by local Mounties.

Raymond Erling Ahlstrom, 59, is accused of threatening two people with a baseball bat on May 21, 2023, and said he would kill them.

Ahlstrom was identified through an RCMP investigation as a suspect, but officers have been unable to locate him since the incident.

He is believed to be of no fixed address but was previously living in a home in the 700 block of Townsite Rd.

Court records showed an arrest warrant was issued for Ahlstrom for failing to attend a late June court appearance.

Ahlstrom is described as 5’11”, 170 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes. The picture attached to this story is recent, police say.

If you have information as to Ahlstrom’s whereabouts, contact Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345, quoting file number 2023-17076.

Ahlstrom’s extensive criminal record dates back to the mid-2000’s, leading to multiple jail tenures.

He has convictions of mischief, possession of stolen property, drug offences, impaired driving and multiple breaches of court orders.
