VIDEO: Nanaimo thieves balance 75 inch TV on car roof in brazen getaway attempt

NANAIMO — A pair of audacious thieves have tried to balance their way out of trouble.

Local Mounties report a 48-year-old man and 43-year-old woman were seen in the Woodgrove Centre parking lot around 6:45 p.m. on June 8 with a television, still in its box, being held down by both their out-stretched arms.

The 75-ich television was stolen from Walmart moments earlier as the thieves tried to make a quick getaway. Video captured by witnesses were shown to police, who put out a description of the two, along with their vehicle and license plate.

“Just three hours later, the suspects, wearing the same clothing and driving the same vehicle, were located at a gas station in central Nanaimo,” a release from the Nanaimo detachment read.
