CHILLIWACK — The Clippers comeback attempt from a 3-0 series deficit fell short in a 5-0 loss in Game 6 to the Chilliwack Chiefs.

With two straight wins to get back in the best of seven second round matchup Nanaimo couldn’t win a third straight game to extend their season.

The Chiefs scored on their first power play in the first period to take a 1-0 lead to the intermission break.

They added two more in each of the final two periods to advance to the Coastal Conference final series.

AJ Lacroix, Michael La Starza, Mateo Mrsic, Brady Milburn and Dylan Kinch had the Chilliwack goals in Game 6.

On the man advantage the Clippers finished 0/4 and were unable to score a power play goal in the series.

Chilliwack scored twice on six power play opportunities.

Goaltender Lucas Szyszka recorded a 28 save shutout while Clippers netminder Shane Shelest stopped 22 shots.

The end of the Clippers season also brought an end to the careers of the graduating 2002 born players.

Brody Waters, Jake Hewitt, Kai Daniells, Skyler Cameron, Jeremie Payant and Aidan Campbell will move on to either college hockey or other options.

The Chiefs will play the winner of the Surrey versus Alberni Valley series which is going to a Game 7 on Tuesday April 25.
