Clippers drop Sunday matinee 4-1 to Surrey

NANAIMO — The Clippers lost 4-1 to Surrey in their first Sunday afternoon game of the BCHL season.

The Eagles built up a 3-0 lead before Nanaimo got a third period goal from Sean Donaldson.

Surrey responded within two minutes of the Donaldson marker to go up 4-1 and leave Frank Crane Arena with a victory.

Both teams went 0/2 on the power play but the Eagles did earn a shorthanded goal.

The shots finished 29-23 for the Clippers but Max Prazma earned the win over the Clippers duo of Cooper Black and Jed Baliotti.

Black was pulled in favour of Baliotti after the Eagles went up 3-0.

Nanaimo’s record fell to 13-8 with back to back weekend losses.

They’ll be back in action with three games from Dec. 10-12 starting with a home date against Coquitlam on the 10th.

Off the ice the Clippers announced Sean Donaldson has committed to Cornell University next season.

He’ll join current Clippers Jack O’Brien and Shawn Mahoney who have already signed on to join the Big Red.
