Apr 21, 2021 | 4:07 PM

PORT ALBERNI – The Clippers never trailed in a 4-2 win over the Cowichan Valley Capitals.

Keighan Gerrie’s two goals led the way with singles by Brody Waters and Nolan Hutcheson.

Nanaimo led 2-1 after the first period and upped the lead to 3-1 in the first minute of the second.

The Clippers didn’t score on Lucas Pfeil the rest of the game, but did round out the scoring with an empty netter.

Nanaimo goalie Jordan Naylor allowed just two goals after having a rare day off on April 20.

The final shots were 37-33 for the Clippers while Nanaimo went 0/1 on the power play and 2/3 on the penalty kill.

At the halfway point of the BCHL season Nanaimo is 5-5, two points behind second place Alberni Valley in the Island Pod standings.

The Clippers have two more games to wrap up a busy week, on April 24 versus the Grizzlies and April 25 against the Bulldogs.
