UPDATED: Pedestrian hit and killed in north Nanaimo accident, road closed for several hours
NANAIMO — A pedestrian was pronounced dead on scene after being hit by two cars in north Nanaimo Friday evening.
Nanaimo RCMP said the pedestrian was hit near the Aulds Rd. intersection around 6:45 p.m. on Dec. 11.
Police said a man crossed two lanes of northbound traffic and was hit in the southbound lanes of the highway. Investigators determined he was hit by two vehicles and sustained fatal injuries.
The Island Hwy. southbound lanes between Dickinson Rd. and the Hammond Bay Rd./Aulds Rd. intersection were closed for several hours while police conducted their investigation.
