Over 300 new COVID-19 cases confirmed through B.C., just four within Island Health

NANAIMO — Four new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed within Island Health on Wednesday.

It’s a slight decrease in the five confirmed on Tuesday, Nov. 3 and takes Island Health’s tally to 274 since the start of the pandemic.

Public health reported 22 active cases within the health authority on Wednesday, one of the highest number of active cases throughout the pandemic.

Six active cases are in the central region including cities like Nanaimo and Parksville with eight each in the north and south. None are reported to be in hospital.

Across B.C., 335 new cases were reported by public health, taking the province past 16,000 total cases since February.

A total of 3,120 active cases are present with 92 people in hospital, 25 of whom receiving intensive care. Those number remain relatively unchanged from Tuesday.

Over 7,000 people are under daily monitoring by public health after being exposed to COVID-19 directly.

One person was reported Wednesday to have lost their life due to COVID-19, the 273rd throughout the pandemic.
