Two more new COVID-19 cases confirmed for Vancouver Island

NANAIMO — The number of active COVID-19 cases within the Island Health region increased steadily again.

Two more new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed on Wednesday, Aug. 19, after two cases were confirmed on Tuesday and four during the reporting period from Friday, Aug. 14 to Sunday, Aug. 17.

The total number of COVID-19 cases on Vancouver Island sits at 158 since the beginning of the pandemic.

A joint statement from health minister Adrian Dix and deputy provincial health officer Dr. Reka Gustafson confirmed 68 new COVID-19 cases across B.C., for a total of 4,745 cases.
