Disaster assistance available to mid island flooding victims

Feb 4, 2020 | 4:12 PM

NANAIMO — Those putting their lives back together after a devastating rain storm and localized flooding in rural areas can now turn to the province.

Disaster Financial Assistance is now available for eligible B.C. residents affected by the flooding in many parts of Vancouver Island, including the Regional District of Nanaimo and Cowichan Valley Regional District.

It’s available to those who were unable to obtain insurance to cover their losses sustained during the flooding.

The province will reimburse 80 per cent of accepted claims up to a maximum of $300,000.
