CAVE, Frank
Posted Dec 5, 2019 | 12:32 AM
Frank passed away peacefully with his partner Cecil of 53 years at his side, Saturday, November 9, 2019. Frank was attended by the excellent caring staff at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents Guy and Emelie Cave, sister Dona and brothers Philip and Bernard.
Survived by partner Cecil; sisters Audrey, Marianne (Don), Juliana; brothers Joseph (Gudrun), Norbert, and many nieces and nephews. He was born and raised at West Bay in West Vancouver. Leaving high school he joined the CPR and after a few years he joined the REA Express Co. After a short stay he
moved on to employment with the Canada Customs organization where he retired after 30 years. He them moved to Parksville, on Vancouver Island and resided there for 20 years until his untimely death.
Frank enjoyed the garden, a glass of wine on the deck, sitting by the fireplace in the winter, square dancing, collecting lapel pins, stamps, souvenir spoons and many other items which took his fancy on his frequent jaunts to garage sales. Frank served on the Board of Directors of the Mid-Island Pensioners and Hobbyist Association and volunteered at the Bradley Centre in Coombs for many years making many friends along the way. He enjoyed swimming, the outdoors, the casino, carpet and lawn bowling. He enjoyed the monthly suppers with our wonderful neighbours.
Frank enjoyed a good story, a joke, and had a ready smile and infectious laugh. He believed you should give a hug and a smile every day and it would be returned. He loved people and his family and always had a smile for visitors. Frank left a trail of hugs, smiles and happiness as he travelled through life. These will be sorely missed by all who loved him. We lost a generous and loving soul.
