DECEMBER 7, 1929 ~ JULY 11, 2018 (AGE 88)
It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of Marion Doak. Marion is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Bruce; children, Ronald Doak, Gordon Doak, and Gaylene Doak; six grandchildren, Richard Turcotte, Ryan Doak, Ashley Minifie, Kyle Moore, Kelsey Moore, and Nolan; four great-grandchildren, Jacob, Julia, William, and Karson; sisters, Ellen Eddy, Ruth Whatley, and her twin sister, Mabel Bouchard. Marion was predeceased by her daughter, Deborah; one brother; one sister; and her parents.
Mom left home at 18 and moved to Vancouver to work. Here she met the love of her life, Bruce. Bruce was in the Army and they travelled the world together while raising a family. Along the way they met many wonderful people and visited many interesting sites. Upon returning to Canada, Marion went to work. In 1973 she moved to Victoria. She retired from her job at the age 60 and moved to Parksville. In her retirement she took up golfing. She and Bruce continued to golf until her illness took over and she wasn’t able to golf anymore. Her home became her new hobby until she wasn’t able to do that anymore. Mom passed on July 11, 2018 at 12:20am.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, July 29, 2018 at Yates Memorial Services, 1000 Allsbrook Rd, Parksville, BC. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the BC Cancer Foundation, www.bccancerfoundation.com.
