JANUARY 27, 1940 ~ OCTOBER 11, 2018 (AGE 78)
On Thursday, October 11th the angels came down and rescued my darling wife from her life of endless pain and suffering. Our family will be forever indebted to the staff of Trillium Lodge who helped make Maureen’s last 30 days since entering Trillium very comfortable with their very professional empathetic & loving care. We will not forget how terrific Nicole and Bobby were with Maureen and her husband Bill especially on her last day.
Maureen’s life these last couple of years at home was greatly enhanced by the wonderful assistance provided by VIHA home support staff and we will forever be thankful for everything that they did for her.
Our family’s lives were greatly enriched these past 37 years since my beloved Maureen joined our family exposing us to her design/decorating/fashion and cooking skills.
Maureen is survived by husband, Bill (and their beloved Maggie) and his four children; daughters, Deborah (Al) Fleming of Richmond, BC and Catherine Wyle and her children Drew and Caitlin of Bracebridge, Ontario, Amy (Brett) Marshall of Burlington, Ont. and their children Charlie and daughter Gray; son, David (June) Dukes of Sidney, BC. She is also survived by her sister, Eveline Smyth and favorite niece Jacqueline (Michael) Spino of Hamilton, Ontario.
Special thanks to Dr Byron Ham of Surrey, BC, Dr William. Colborne and Dr P. Ochoa both of Nanaimo BC and Dr P. Juralowicz of Parksville, BC.
In keeping with Maureen’s wishes there will be no service locally. However, husband Bill will be taking Maureen’s ashes back to her beloved Ulster for a service there. Bill will be accompanied by niece, Jacqueline in the spring. She will be at eternal rest with her two sons in Movilla cemetery. To her last days their memory was very strong in her heart.
Maureen was predeceased by her two young sons, Stephen and Stuart; sister, Betty; brothers, Hugh, Martin, Alex of Ulster and brothers, Jim and wife Margaret and George and wife Doreen all of Hamilton, Ontario.
