JULY 15, 1933 ~ OCTOBER 20, 2018 (AGE 85)
On October 20th, we lost our beloved father, husband, grandfather and great-grandfather, Ralph Kaye. To those who knew him, Ralph was a man of integrity, honesty and diplomacy. To his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he was simply “Bub”.
Ralph was born in Holden, Alberta, and moved to Vancouver with his parents when he was seven years old. He started working for Finning Tractor in 1952 in the Parts Department. It was here where he met Nancy, his love. They were married in 1954 and shared sixty-four happy years together. Ralph spent his career with Finning in Vancouver, with the exception of a three year stint in Nelson where he worked as a Branch Manager. After 39 years he retired to Parksville with Nancy in 1991. He truly enjoyed his work with Finning and the many friends he made there.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy, his three children Michael (Lorie), Lisa (Steven) and Randy (Sylvie), eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sister, Elizabeth, sisters-in-law, Catherine, and Ilene, nephews and nieces and many good friends in Parksville, Vancouver, Sun City West, AZ, and beyond.
Although Ralph was 85, his passing feels untimely to those close to him, as he remained so full of life, humour and wisdom. He was a kind and gentle soul, who loved all creatures big and small. He was a handyman at heart, building his first home at the age of 17, and working and tinkering on his various projects (one being a beautiful hobby horse for his youngest great-grandchild) until just weeks before his passing. He also enjoyed traveling in his RV, golfing, skiing, and sailing. Most importantly, Ralph loved his family immensely and always put them first. In turn, he was dearly loved and we will deeply miss him.
A celebration of Ralph’s life will be held on Saturday, November 10th, at 11:00 a.m. at Yates Memorial Services, 1000 Allsbrook Rd, Parksville.
