It is with sadness that the family announce the passing of Maggie on January 3, 2019 at Ty Watson House.
She was predeceased by her parents Ernest and Marion Lauder; her brother Howard Lauder, sister Teresa (Lauder) Michaud and her half brother Tim Taylor; and is survived by her daughter Leah Natasha (Wrigley) Glass of Roseville, CA, her son Milan Smith of Victoria, BC and her siblings Sherman (Elaine) Lauder, Pat Lauder, Diane Lauder, Veronica (Lauder) McAnerin, Harry (Susan) Lauder, Linda (Lauder) & Horst Kirchoff, Everett (Ellen) Lauder and Fabian Lauder – all of Port Alberni, BC and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
Maggie was born December 10, 1939 and raised in the Alberni Valley; a member of the Hupacasath First Nation and a devout Jehovah’s Witness. She had a career as a Long-Term Care Aide and enjoyed the work she did until her retirement.
Maggie was a dear friend to many – always joking and teasing, she had a wonderful sense of humour and was a hard worker at whatever task was at hand, she willingly volunteered to help others and was extremely generous and kind hearted. Maggie enjoyed playing Canasta with her friends and swimming at Paper Mill Dam – you could often find her at Paper Mill Dam in the summer, as this was her second home.
Maggie was an amazing mother, strict, but loving and kind; always wanting the best for her children; she was the best Mum ever – and will be dearly missed.
“We Will Miss You Mom”
Maggie was loved by so many; although she did not want a service, hundreds of friends and family would have attended if she had allowed it. She will be dearly missed by many.
Cremation has taken place. No Service by request. In lieu of flowers, if so desired, please consider a donation to Ty Watson House in Maggie’s name.
