‘I’ll be able to spoil my kids:’ Nanaimo pair wins big

NANAIMO — A trip to Disneyland and a new recording studio is now suddenly in the near future for a Nanaimo pair.

Jesse Logan and Teresa Winters Day bought a winning Lotto 6/49 together when they purchased a Mini Dip ticket pack from a Nanaimo 7-Eleven. They’re now $5 million richer after the Aug. 21 draw.

A release from the British Columbia Lottery Corporation said the two only recently started buying lottery tickets and they’re still processing the huge shock of winning so much money.

“I’ll be able to spoil my kids,” Winters Day said in the release. “I’ve always wanted to go to Disneyland…that’s the first thing I’ll do with my kids.”

Logan said he hopes to build a recording studio but first he’ll be giving a portion of his winnings to his family.

“We didn’t have much growing up but my parents did the best they could. I’m excited to give back to them.”

This is the latest of many big wins in the Nanaimo area.

Thirteen separate prizes of at least half a million dollars since 2012 were earned on tickets bought in Nanaimo.
