Holly Ave fire displaces several

A fatal fire early in the morning wasn’t the only blaze Nanaimo Fire Rescue crews had to deal with Wednesday.

A fire broke out at an apartment building at the corner of Holly Avenue and Townsite Road just after noon.

Nanaimo Fire stated on Twitter that several units in the building were displaced.

It took crews about two hours to knock down the flames and roads along Townsite were closed for several hours.

The cause of the fire hasn’t been officially determined.
