Dad’s Day Car Show a hit in Qualicum Beach

Big crowds in Qualicum Beach Sunday for the Annual Father’s Day Show and Shine.

Thousands packed the streets to look at close to 700 vehicles in the event hosted by the Seaside Cruizers.

Club President Dave Field says it seems the show keeps drawing more and more people.

“We see a lot of the cars come back year after year. But you also see a lot of new stuff. It’s nice to see people coming from different places, Alberta, all over B-C, Vancouver Island,” said Field.

They’ve come a long way from their first show back in 1993.

“Before I was in the car club, it started off as a group of six guys who decided to put on a car show on Father’s Day. And it just grew from there. The first show had, I think, about 60 cars.”

Field says they’re already starting to think about 2018 which will mark their 25th anniversary.
