Injured hiker rescued from Lantzville Foothills
LANTZVILLE — A woman has a suspected broken ankle after losing her footing in a steep section of trail in the Lantzville Foothills.
Lantzville Volunteer Fire Department (LVFD) acting chief John Marment told NanaimoNewsNOW the woman, in her 40’s, was hiking alone in the Copley Ridge area off Aulds Rd. late Friday (Oct. 14) morning when she fell and called 911.
He said finding the woman was a challenge since her cell reception was weak, preventing LVFD and BC Ambulance crews from pinpointing where she was.
“A man walking in the area then came down and said he spotted the lady which led us to the trail she was on.”
