Qualicum Beach Civic Centre turns into emergency hub

QUALICUM BEACH — The thousands without power in the Oceanside area don’t have to spend the chilly, dark day at a powerless home. 

The Qualicum Beach Civic Centre has become a warming centre for those without power. Emergency Management Oceanside is opening the facility for showers, a warm drink and the hcance to charge any devices. 

It will remain open until 6 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. 

Doors will stay open longer if it’s necessary.
